The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed in a motorcycle crash in downtown Fort Wayne on Monday.
65-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Terrell’s death was ruled an accident due to the crash.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified, and made notifications to the next of kin of the deceased individual that was involved in a moped crash at South Lafayette Street and East Lewis Street, in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 10:11 hours, Monday, March 7, 2022. He has been identified as Jeffrey Lynn Terrell male, white, age 65, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Jeffrey Lynn Terrell was the operator of a moped that left the roadway, striking a fire hydrant, an informational traffic sign, and ejecting him from the moped. Mr. Terrell was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced shortly after arrival.
Jeffrey Lynn Terrell Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Moped Crash, and the Manner of Death is Accident Jeffrey Lynn Terrell is the 9th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2022. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say that a man has died after a motorcycle crash in downtown Fort Wayne Monday morning at Lafayette and Lewis.
The motorcycle was reportedly heading northbound on Lafayette when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant.
He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, however, was pronounced dead once at the hospital.
FWPD officials released the following:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred at 10:10 am March 7th, 2022 at Lafayette/Jefferson Blvd. Preliminary information indicates that the solo driver of the motorcycle was traveling Northbound on Lafayette St. when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a fire hydrant and a sign on the west side of the roadway, South of Jefferson Blvd. Roadway conditions were wet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene. He was rendered aid at the scene and transported to a local hospital, where he passed away, shortly after arrival. The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene and closed all westbound traffic on Lewis St. from Lafayette St. while processing the scene. The roadway has since, been reopened.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team, Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
