FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department got a boost from a local retailer.
Every year, Walmart allows individual stores to allocate funds to support organizations within their community. This year, The Fort Wayne Police Department Air Support Unit was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Walmart store on Maysville Rd (US37) in November of 2021.
The grant was used to purchase three new drones: a Skydio 2 for crash and crime scene mapping, a Mavic Air 2S for crash and crime scene mapping, and a DJI FPV for interior building/confined space searches.
All three drones will allow the Air Support Unit to provide safer, better-quality service to the community and aid in crime investigations.
In appreciation for the grant, the Fort Wayne Police Department Air Support Unit met with employees of the Maysville Rd Walmart this week to showcase the drones and pass along their gratitude for the continued community support.
