FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A proposal put forward by City Councilman Geoff Paddock (D) could bring a high-speed rail system to Fort Wayne.
City Council took up the measure last night and is now on the record as supporting an Amtrak line.
Council voted seven to one to endorse the proposal that would run a train from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio.
Fort Wayne would be one of the stops. Council member Geoff Paddock says adding Amtrak service to Fort Wayne would be a major economic boost.
It would also be expensive. Fort Wayne would need to find $150 million dollars to match a federal grant for the new train line.
