FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that a man is in critical condition following a crash Monday on I-69 northbound close to Illinois Road. Police say that a motorcycle crashed into a “5th wheel camper” just before 5 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle was described as elderly and police say he was taken to an area hospital where they were declared to be in life-threatening condition.
Police don’t think speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Date: 04/22/2024 Location: I-69 NB @ 305.7mm Time: 1647 hrs Details: On Monday April 22nd 2024 at approximately 1647 hrs officers were dispatched to the 305.7 mm of I-69 NB (Just north of Illinois Rd) regarding a vehicle crash. Officers arrived to find a motorcycle had collided with a 5th wheel camper. TRAA medics transported the elderly rider of the motorcycle to a local area hospital where their condition was declared to be life threatening condition. Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be a factor. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Dept Fatal Crash Team. I-69 NB at Illinois Rd will be down to 1 lane and the ramp from Illinois WB to I69 NB closed until the conclusion of the investigation.
