FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A shooting at a local hotel has left a victim fighting for his life. Police say a man matching the suspect’s description was also shot but expected to survive.
FWPD officials say that officers and EMS were called just before 3 p.m. to the Comfort Inn at 1005 W. Washington Center Road on a report of a shooting.
When they arrived, they found a man in a second-floor room screaming for help. Police say he appeared to have been shot twice.
The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. And they say that later in the day, a man that matched the description given by people at the hotel showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Police are still investigating the connection.
Police released the following statement:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Oct. 14th, 2021 (Thursday) at approximately 2:44pm at 1005 W. Washington Center Rd. (Comfort Inn). Officers responded to the shooting and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was given aid by Police and Paramedics, then transported to a local hospital in life threatening condition. A Suspect description was given by witnesses.
As the preliminary investigation started, an adult male arrived at another local hospital, by their own conveyance suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male matched the description of the shooting Suspect given by witnesses. This male was in non-life threatening condition. Officers and Detectives responded to the hospital to interview the potential Suspect.
