FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting that left a 16-year old with critical injuries.
Officers responded just before 5:30 p.m. to the 5900 block of Bunt Drive. They say they found the teen suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to police, he was shot after answering the door of his apartment. The teen was taken to the hospital in a life-threatening condition.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Monday November 22, 2021 at approximately 5:27 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an apartment located in the 5900 block of Bunt Drive in reference to a shooting investigation. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they located a male juvenile suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics provided medical care to the victim before transporting him to a local hospital where he was listed with life threatening injuries.
Investigators are on the scene speaking with possible witnesses and a K-9 officer is on the scene attempting to locate the suspect. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence. At this time, there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.
Investigators advised that someone knocked on an apartment door in the 5900 block of Bunt Drive. When the victim answered the door, he was shot before the suspect or suspects fled the area on foot. At this time, it is not known how many suspects there were and there is no suspect description.
