UPDATE:
The Allen County Coroner has identified a woman killed in a crash Sunday night.
Right now, a man has been arrested in connection to the crash but his exact role is still unknown (story below).
That said, the coroner ruled the death of 31-year-old Samia Ethel Hayes a homicide.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
The autopsy has been completed, and notifications has been made to the next of kin of the deceased individual that was involved in a motor vehicle crash at South Clinton Street and East Jefferson Boulevard, in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 19:36 hours, Sunday, May 1, 2022. She has been identified as Samia Ethel Hayes, female, black, age 31, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Samia Ethel Hayes was the operator of a motor vehicle that was struck by another motor vehicle. Samia Ethel Hayes was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced.
Samia Ethel Hayes’ Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Samia Ethel Hayes is the 9th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2022.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say they have made an arrest in connection with a crash that led to a woman’s death Sunday night.
Police say a vehicle struck a pole and a tree and police at Clinton and Jefferson. The woman killed was reported to be the driver. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Initially, police asked for any witnesses to come forward in the crash.
At that time, FWPD officials released the following:
On Sunday, 05/01/2022, at approximately 7:35 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of South Clinton Street and East Jefferson Blvd. reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Witnesses reported a vehicle struck a tree.
Officers located a vehicle at the intersection with extensive damage. The female/adult driver (sole occupant) of the vehicle was pinned inside the vehicle suffering life-threatening injuries. The Fort Wayne Fire Department extricated the victim and she was transported to a
local hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on Clinton Street and left the west side of the roadway for an unknown reason. After leaving the roadway the vehicle struck a tree and a utility pole. Investigators are asking anyone that witnessed this crash to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department or use the free “P3 Tips” app.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the cause of death and identity of the victim.
Poice now say that Samuel L. Clemons, 37 years of age was arrested in connection to the crash.
His exact involvement is not yet known but police say he is charged with leaving the scene of a deadly crash, among other offenses.

The city of Fort Wayne Police Department is actively investigating a fatal crash that occurred at S. Clinton St. and E. Jefferson Blvd. this past Sunday around 7:35pm that resulted in the death of an adult female. The suspect involved in that crash was believed to be the potential barricaded subject at 500 Madison St. that necessitated an EST/CRT/ASU call-out later that night. The suspect was not located at that residence. Early this morning, the suspect turned himself into Police. The Fatal Accident Crash Team, Homicide Unit, EST/CRT/ASU, and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office worked tirelessly throughout the late evening hours to help bring the suspect to custody.

Preliminary charges: Reckless Homicide, Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death,
2 counts of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon
