FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting on Sunday close to downtown. Kyree Warren, 18, was arrested in connection to the death of Montreale Cornelius Turner, 44.
Warren is now facing a charge of murder.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Nov. 27th, 2022 at approximately 11:58 am FWPD officers responed to a shooting in the 1000 block of Rockhill St. Officers located Montreale Turner suffering from a gunshot wound following a domestic disturbance. The victim was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced. On Nov. 30th, 2022, just before 1pm FWPD officers and Homicide Detectives arrested Kyree Warren in the lobby of the Police Station without incident for the prelimnary charge of Murder. Also assisting with this investigation were the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man shot and killed on Sunday night close to downtown. The death of Montreale Cornelius Turner, 44, was ruled a Homicide.
The FWPD said initially that he was found with a gunshot wound after a domestic dispute. Officers arrived at the home on the 1000 block of Rockhill Street just before midnight on Sunday. Turner was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
Police say that one person was detained but didn’t release any further details.
FWPD officials released the following early Monday:
On Sunday November 27th 2022 at approximately 1158 hrs Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Dept were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Rockhill Ave.
They arrived on scene to find an adult male suffering an apparent gunshot wound received after a domestic dispute. He was transported by TRAA to a local area hospital where he was declared life threatening. One person of interest is currently detained pending further investigation.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found in the 1000 block of Rockhill Street, in Fort Wayne, on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at approximately 11:58 hours, suffering from gunshot a wound. The decedent has been positively identified as Montreale Cornelius Turner, male, black, 44 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Montreale Cornelius Turner was transported from the scene by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority to a local hospital where death was pronounced. Cause of Death has been determined to be a Gunshot Wound and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Montreale Cornelius Turner is the 23rd Homicide for Fort Wayne, Allen County for 2022.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
