FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – If you are a parent – you know diapers can get expensive (especially these days).
To help the families that need it most Healthier Moms and Babies has partnered with the Indiana Diaper Bank to provide 200 diapers per child to high-risk families in our community.
The TANF service project is a grant-funded state project run by the Indiana Diaper Bank.
Healthier Moms and Babies released the following:
This service project is for households who receive FSSA benefits including TANF, WIC, SNAP, and Hoosier Healthwise. Eligible families will receive 200 diapers every other month for 2 years for their child/children.
Ashley Burns, President and CEO of the Indiana Diaper Bank, is proud to partner with Healthier Moms and Babies. She says, “Diaper need is a basic need for families. 1 in 2 families struggle to provide an adequate supply of diapers. These diapers allow families to raise happy and healthy children.”
When a family does not have the funds or resources to keep their babies clean and dry, they are experiencing diaper need. Babies can experience health and developmental complications; families can be forced to miss work or school. By providing families with 200 diapers per child bimonthly, we can help reduce this need in our community.
“Through this partnership, we can give back even more to our community. This helps us reduce a barrier that affects so many. I’m grateful for this partnership with the Indiana Diaper Bank.” says Shaquayla Robertson, Healthier Moms and Babies’ Outreach and Diaper Distribution Coordinator.
At a price of $60-$100 for 200 diapers, this can support can mean the difference between paying a utility bill or purchasing groceries. Families who have received support have reported being able to afford other necessities, thanks to this support.
One client who is receiving this support says, “Thank you so much. I really appreciate this program. I was running low on diapers and wasn’t sure when I would be able to purchase them again. This is a big help.”
Our outreach support is about more than just diapers. At these events, we’re able to connect with new families and refer them to our other services, as well as our community partners.
