UPDATE (July 23, 2019): A police report regarding Allen County Sheriff David Gladieux’s ‘incident’ at the Three Rivers Festival doesn’t mention his name and has left more questions than answers.
The heavily redacted report does say a 15-year-old male volunteer was hurt in a fall by a PVC pipe. The report also cites that someone who was drunk. Fort Wayne police released it yesterday, but it still doesn’t answer many of the questions about what happened last Tuesday at the festival.
The Indiana State Police are investigating Sheriff Gladieux, but they too are not offering any specifics.
The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the investigation but would not comment further – releasing the following on Friday:
“The incident at the Three Rivers Festival, allegedly involving Allen County Sheriff David Gladieux, on July 16, 2019, is being investigated by the Indiana State Police. On Thursday, July 18th, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office filed a Petition seeking a Special Prosecutor. The Petition was approved and Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings has accepted the appointment.
Please be advised that as this investigation is pending, all parties are ethically unable to comment any further.”
UPDATE (July 19, 2019): Allen County’s sheriff isn’t going anywhere, even while he’s under investigation. WANE-TV yesterday reported that a sheriff’s spokesperson said Sheriff David Gladieux is still leading his department.
The Indiana State Police are looking into an ‘incident’ earlier this week involving Gladieux.
But no one at the county or with the state police are saying what that incident involved.
