AURORA, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police say a man is in custody after a shooting Thursday.
ISP officials say that around 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at an address on Indiana Avenue in Aurora, Indiana. A 19-year-old Aurora man was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation by Detectives with the Indiana State Police and Aurora Police Department has determined that sometime just prior to 10:00 pm, Robert L. Marksberry, age 64, Switzerland County, Indiana arrived at 803 Indiana Avenue, Aurora, Indiana. After arriving at the residence, Marksberry was involved in an altercation with Nicholas Woodruff, age 19. Marksberry retrieved a gun and allegedly shot Woodruff before leaving the area in a vehicle. Woodruff was immediately transported to High Point Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers with the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office and Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate Marksberry at a residence near Bennington, Switzerland County, Indiana where he was then taken into custody. He was transported to the Dearborn County Jail where he is being held pending the filing of formal charges.
The investigation is still ongoing.
