2 people escape, dog rescued in south-side house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne home suffered heavy damage after a fire broke out in the living room Wednesday morning.  2 adults escaped the home at 4115 Oliver Street just before fire crews arrived at 9 a.m.

Fort Wayne Fire Department says firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the living room of the home. Crews made an aggressive interior attack and had the fire under control in a short time.

While one part of the responders worked on the fire, another group went on a search through the home for the family dog.  Eventually, firefighters located the pet in the basement.  They rescued the dog and report that it is doing fine.

Heavy fire damage was reported to the living room with heavy smoke damage though out the structure along with moderate water damage.

No injuries were reported, and this fire remains under investigation.  The Red Cross is now assisting the family.
