FWFD: Crews rescue dogs from house fire, family left homeless

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A family was left homeless after a fire late Tuesday night.
A neighbor called 911, when they saw smoke and flames coming from the house at 4503 Anthony Wayne Drive at 11:49 p.m.
Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the home and flames at the back of the house. It took about ten minutes to get the fire under control. 2 adults and 2 children were able to make it out safely.

According to fire officials, crews searched the burning home and found two dogs, one was unconscious. Firefighters were able to revive the dog with oxygen. Animal Care and Control is providing additional treatment for the dogs.

The home sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage.

The family is now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The fire is under investigation.
