Hearings day for bills aimed at ending ban on Sunday alcohol sales

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana House and Senate committees are set to take up legislation that would end the prohibition on Sunday alcohol sales.

Wednesday morning, The House Public Policy committee will hear testimony followed by an afternoon hearing with the Senate Public Policy.
Each committee is reviewing separate bills with nearly identical terms.

The ban on Sunday alcohol sales has had many opposition bills over the years, although this session the GOP gave the green light for consideration. Senate Republicans made it one of their priorities for the session.

Each of the bills would allow for Sunday sales between the hours of 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.

A measure that would allow for cold beer sales at big box retailers and convenience stores seems to be a non-starter for the GOP led session.
