Man charged after leaving car fire on I-69

AUBURN, Ind. (ADAMS) – DeKalb County Sheriff and the Auburn Fire Departments responded to a vehicle fire on I-69 early Tuesday morning.  The car was reported around 4:30 a.m. at the 326 mile-marker on the southbound side of the interstate.  When officials arrived, no one was in or around the flaming vehicle.

Officers eventually were able to contact the driver and registered owner.  He reported that he wasn’t hurt although, details on why he left the car were not immediately made clear.  Police also did not say how the fire started.

The registered owner is now facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
