15-year-old girl on moped hurt in crash

DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in DeKalb County say that a 15-year-old was hurt in a crash while turning on a moped next to a turning vehicle to pass a vehicle Tuesday morning.

Just before 10:30 a.m., the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 1700 block of C.R. 48 on reports of the crash.

According to a news release, a Honda ULX, driven by Connie Collins, 74, of Garrett, was traveling eastbound on C.R. 48 and attempted to pass the moped which was heading eastbound. Driving the Rockne MC-08-50 was Katrina Kline, 15, of Garrett. While the Honda was passing, Kline turned on her left turn signal, began making a left turn and crashed into the car.

Kline was ejected and reportedly suffered from ankle pain, road rash and lacerations.

The DeKalb Co. Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Garrett Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Garrett Police Department.
