Elderly woman fighting for life after crash at Hanna and Pontiac

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWPD officials say that an elderly woman is fighting for her life after a crash.

Officers responded to the intersection of Hanna and Pontiac for an accident with injury around 2:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Upon arrival, they found both occupants with minor injuries. The ambulance was on scene and treating the injured when the condition of one of the drivers, an 80-year-old woman, began to deteriorate.

She was transported to a local hospital where she was determined to have life-threatening injuries. The lights at the intersection were out and stop signs had been placed for traffic control on each point of the intersection before the accident. One car was traveling north and the other east when they collided.

The FACT team was paged out to conduct the crash investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The intersection of Hanna and Pontiac was closed while measurements and evidence collection was complete.
