Man listed as critical after being hit with bat, suspect sought

Fort Wayne Police Department officials have now identified a suspect in an attack that left a man with critical injuries. Police are now looking for Samuel McCormick in the Leesburg Road battery that happened Tuesday night.

FWPD officials released the following:

On June 1st, 2021 (Tuesday) at approximately 9:30pm an unknown problem was reported at 707 Leesburg Rd.  FWPD Officers located an adult male victim suffering from a head injury from an assault.  The victim sustained life threatening injuries.  FWPD Homicide Detectives are currently looking for Samuel McCormick, a white male age 24.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man is in critical condition after being hit in the head with a bat. Fort Wayne police say it happened just before 9:30 on Leesburg Road. Police believe the suspect is an adult male and he is still at large.

FWPD officials released the following:

On Tuesday June 1st, 2021 at approximately 09:21 PM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 707 Leesburg Rd., in reference to a male who was struck in the head with a bat.
Police, Fire, and Medics responded to the scene. When medics arrived on scene they provided medical attention to the adult male victim. He was conscious and alert at this time. He was transferred to Lutheran Hospital for the injuries sustained to his head.
While at the hospital the male victim was later determined to be in critical condition. The suspect is believed to be an adult male. He is still at large. The incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and is asking if anyone has information regarding this incident to contact the department at 427- 1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
