FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Northeast Indiana Chapter will host its annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration in partnership with The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. More than 300 individuals, business leaders and organizations are expected to attend the event honoring Northeast Indiana’s civic and philanthropic leaders.
President Reagan first proclaimed November 15 as National Philanthropy Day in 1986. The purpose of this day is to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy—and those people active in the philanthropic community.
The 2019 award nominees for Northeast Indiana are:
Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation (Under 100 Employees): Christopher James Menswear; Fort Wayne Radiology, P.E.T. Fusion & Breast Diagnostic Center; Letter Perfect Services; One Eleven Design; Parrish Leasing and ProResources Staffing.
Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation (Over 100 Employees): Casa Ristoranti Italiano; Brotherhood Mutual; Fort Wayne Metals; PNC Bank; Purdue University Fort Wayne; Pyromation Inc.; Rea Magnet Wire; Wagner-Meinert.
Outstanding Volunteer Award: Halsey Blocher; Armando Bustamante; Jeremy Hostetler; Robert Jones; Hajira Khan; Raquel Kline; Ron Menze; Julie Nill; Don Schenkenberger; Angie Schmidt and Cheryl Stromski.
Outstanding Innovation in Philanthropy: Gene Davis, Subaru; Beth Goldsmith; Lincoln Financial Foundation; Mary Cross Tippman Foundation and Donald F. Wood & Darlene M. Richardson Foundation.
This year, AFP will also be celebrating, “Development Professional of the Year.” Two new awards have also been added to include the “Change the World” award, which focuses on youth in philanthropy and, “For the Greater Good,” which highlights an individual who continually connects individuals, corporations, nonprofits and foundations so that together they can collaborate for the greater good of the community.
