There is a sad update to an alert we brought you earlier this week.
The Allen County Coroner says that a 12-year-old that was reported missing on Monday night was found dead. The coroner did not specify the manner of his death but said it was caused by a gunshot wound to his head.
He was found a short time after he was reported missing near the railroad tracks on Hoagland Avenue.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following on Thursday:
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found on the railroad elevation near Hoagland Avenue and Melita Street, in Fort Wayne, on Tuesday, June 14, 2021, at approximately 22:30 hours. The deceased has been positively identified as Mario Antonio Gilmer, a male, black, 12 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of Head and the Manner of Death is Pending Investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
ORIGINAL STORY (June 14, 2021):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a missing juvenile.
He was last seen close to Parkview Field around 5 p.m. on Monday evening.
FWPD officials say he has a medical condition and they are concerned for his safety.
Fort Wayne Police Department officials released the following:
Mario Gilmer, is described as a Male Mixed 12 years of age 5’ tall and weighing 150 lbs with Brown in color Hair in Dredlocks and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts.
Mario has been missing since 5:00pm tonight last seen in the area South of Park view Field and Mario does have a medical condition that requires him to take his medication on a regular basis.
