Signal modernization starts Monday on U.S. 224 in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Department of Transportation says signal improvements along U.S. 224 in the City of Huntington. Beginning on or after Monday, June 18, INDOT contractor, Michiana Contracting, is scheduled to begin working on several locations between Park Street and Etna Avenue.

The project consists of installing new signal heads, cabinets and other upgrades, as well as the installation of flashing yellow arrows (FYA) on left-turn signals at specific intersections. Motorists should expect to encounter temporary daytime lane restrictions in both locations. Some overnight work may be needed.

Intersections on U.S. 224 receiving new FYA signals include:

U.S. 224/Park Drive at Cherry Street
U.S. 224/Jefferson Street at Etna Avenue
FYA have been shown to improve traffic flow and reduce waiting times at signals
