FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 Diversity Awards honoring outstanding immigrants and refugees and those who work to create a welcoming community. Awards will be presented at the Diversity Awards breakfast, Friday, October 22 at Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne at 9 a.m.
Nominations for awards fall into three categories:
Welcoming Organization: Recognizes an organization which has made an outstanding contribution to welcome and engage immigrants and the international community into the greater Fort Wayne area.
Lifetime Achiever: Honors an individual who has made significant, innovative and cumulative outstanding contributions to enhancing the practice of multiculturalism, devoting a major portion of their professional career or time to the cause.
Emerging Leader: Honors an individual who has demonstrated exceptional resilience and commitment to improving the community and the lives of area immigrant/refugee families.Anyone may nominate an individual or organization for an award by visiting www.WelcomingFW.org, downloading and completing the nomination form, and emailing it to events@AmaniFamilyServices.org. Nominations are due by September 22, 2021.
The Diversity Awards is presented by Welcoming Fort Wayne, a chapter of Welcoming America and an initiative of Amani Family Services. The Title Sponsor is the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation and Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne is the Presenting Sponsor.
The Diversity Awards Committee is comprised of volunteers from the following supporting partners: YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne, Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission, Parkview Health, the Multicultural Council of Fort Wayne, Language Services Network, Friends of the Third World, Fort Wayne Community Schools, East Allen County Schools, the City of Fort Wayne, Associated Churches and the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation.
Attendance at the Diversity Awards breakfast is free but registration will be required. Registration will open during Welcoming Week, which begins September 10, 2021.
