FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department officials say that a cat perished in a trailer fire on Wells Street Wednesday.
Around 6:45 p.m., crews were sent to the 3100 block of Wells on reports of a structure fire.
Crews found fire coming from the kitchen and dining room areas of a vacant trailer home.
Once flames were under control, firefighters discovered the cat.
No one else was inside or hurt in the fire.

Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 3126 Wells Lot 28. First arriving crews found moderate smoke and fire showing from residential trailer. Crews advanced hose lines inside residential trailer for fire control and search. Crews found fire in kitchen/dining room areas and were able to extinguish fire in around 15 minutes. Searches were completed in residence with one deceased cat found. Crews performed salvage and overhaul of trailer that suffered moderate fire, smoke, and water damage. Fire cause is under investigation by Fort Wayne Fire Investigators. Firefighters were assisted by Police, AEP, Nipsco, NCE and Traa Medics.
