UPDATE (January 7, 2022):
Add this to Fort Wayne’s garbage problems. WANE-TV reports that the city’s 311 helpline is being inundated with calls from people who have garbage piling up on their curbs. Fort Wayne is in the middle of a back-and-forth with its garbage collector, Red River Waste.
The company is going through bankruptcy, and Fort Wayne officials are furious that Red River is simply not picking up the trash.
A city spokesman is asking for patience. The spokesman, however, doesn’t have an answer for people with trash piles growing outside of their homes.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – People in Fort Wayne are going to have to wait a little longer to get some answers about the future of their garbage.
The city’s Solid Waste Advisory Board was supposed to meet yesterday to talk about the bankruptcy of their current trash collector and give an update on any contingency plans.
That meeting was postponed. City Councilman Russ Jehl is a member of the Solid Waste Advisory Board, he says the people of Fort Wayne shouldn’t have any confidence that the city’s Solid Waste Department will be able to figure this out.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The trash is being collected in Fort Wayne even as the company in charge of garbage collection continues to move through its bankruptcy case.
Red River Waste Solutions was supposed to pay the city of Fort Wayne about $800,000 by the end of last week. That hasn’t happened.
Technically, that’s a breach of contract and could end Fort Wayne’s relationship with the company. Red River is in bankruptcy in Texas and has been struggling with trash collection in Fort Wayne for years.
City leaders say Red River did pick up the trash this week, though the city notes crews were three days late in getting to it.
