Vice President Harris is headed to Europe today amid a growing humanitarian crisis. She’ll stop in Poland first to thank the country for taking in most of the refugees from Ukraine. More than two million people have escaped since Russia invaded 14 days ago. Harris will likely also discuss Poland’s offer to supply fighter jets to Ukraine. The U.S. rejected that but is sending two Patriot anti-missile batteries to Poland.
While more people in Ukraine are getting another chance to safely evacuate the war today. Russia agreed to stop firing as of minutes ago, to provide humanitarian corridors out of the capital and four other cities. Ukraine’s president is again vowing he won’t surrender, saying they’ll defend the country at any cost. More than 20,000 volunteers from 52 countries have now joined the fight and can also apply for Ukrainian citizenship.
