FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says officers are investigating a shooting that happened near the intersection of Sherwood Terrace and Gaywood Drive on Friday evening.
Officers were called to the scene just before 5 p.m. and found two men who were in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the FWPD.
Paramedics took the men to a local hospital – one was listed with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other had life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Detectives were receiving conflicting accounts about what may have happened. They were told a smaller car was seen leaving south from the area at a high rate of speed.
The identities of the men who were shot have not been released.

On July 29, 2022 shortly before 5:00 pm the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Gaywood Drive and Sherwood Terrace in reference to shots fired.
911 Communications was receiving multiple calls advising that there were shots fired in the area and one caller advised that they heard saying that someone had been shot.
Upon officers arrival on scene they did locate 2 adult males inside a vehicle that were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. One victim was listed as having Life Threatening Injuries and the other victim was suffering from Non-Life Threatening Injuries.
Officers were advised that a small vehicle was last seen heading South on Gaywood at a high rate of speed after the shots were fired, however they were not able to provide detailed description of the vehicle at this time as well as a description of the driver and if the vehicle was associated to this incident.
The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit along with Crime Scene Technicians and Air Support Units were called to the scene.
Upon their arrival Detectives began canvassing the area for any possible witnesses as well as any possible video footage that homeowners may have on their personal home security systems.
Crime Scene Units began to process the scene for evidence associated with this incident and Air Support Units utilized the drones to assist in providing detailed footage of the scene from above and assist in providing a layout of the scene.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
