FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that a bicyclist had to be hospitalized after she was hit by a car near the Pufferbelly Trail by Wallen Road and Hunters Knoll Run. Officials say she has life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to the crash around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The FWPD says the woman was traveling north on the trail approaching Wallen Road when she collided with a vehicle traveling west on Wallen Road.
The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The adult driver of the vehicle was uninjured and is reportedly cooperating with investigators
Police say the incident remains under investigation.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a vehicle and bicycle crash that occurred on 8/17/22 around 4:16pm at the intersection of Wallen Road and the Pufferbelly Trail, just east of Hunters Knoll Run. Preliminary information indicates a bicyclist was traveling north on the tail approaching Wallen Road and collided with a vehicle that was traveling west on Wallen Road.
The adult female bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The adult driver of the vehicle was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators. Wallen Road was completely shut down for investigators to document the scene and collect evidence, which the roadway is completely open at this time.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team with assistance of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Air Support Unit.
