FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police say a man is in critical condition after a shooting at an apartment complex early Sunday morning.
Just before 3:30 a.m., FWPD officers were on patrol near Hanna and Hayden when they heard several gunshots nearby. According to a release from FWPD, while they searched the area dispatch got a call reporting a shooting at the East Central Towers Apartments.
Officers arrived and found a man in the parking lot who was conscious but suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. After arriving at the hospital his condition was downgraded to life-threatening, according to the release.
Police had an apartment where they believe the suspected shooter to be. Officers reportedly tried for hours to make contact. However, no one was found after officers were able to make entry.
Police are now asking anyone with information to come forward by calling Crimestoppers or using the p3 app.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred this morning at the East Central Towers Apartment Complex that resulted in an adult male sustaining life-threatening injuries. During the course of the investigation information was received indicating that the suspect from the shooting was possibly in the East Central Towers Apartment Complex. Numerous attempts were made by officers to make contact with the occupants of the suspected apartments, but were unsuccessful.
The Emergency Service Team, Crisis Response Team, and the Air Support Unit were called-out to the scene. More attempts were made to make contact with the occupants of the suspected apartments, but again were unsuccessful. As a result, two apartments were searched in the apartment complex. The suspect was not located in either apartment. The surrounding apartments were evacuated for public safety.
