FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says it is trying to figure out what sparked a fire at an empty house on East Tillman Road. FWFD officials say that neighbors spotted the flames and called around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Crews arrived within minutes and began to fight the fire and search the home at 1516 East Tillman Road.
They reported that no one was inside the house and found the origin of the fire in the laundry room. Just after midnight, crews gained control and the fire was contained and extinguished.
An official cause of the fire was not released and no one was hurt. Officials said the home suffered minor to moderate smoke, fire, and water damage.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire called in by neighbors. The first unit arrived on the scene and had smoke coming from the front door of a one-story house. The crew began fighting the fire while other crews searched the home. A fire was found in the laundry room and crews did not locate any one in the home. The fire was under control in 18 minutes.
