FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that one person was taken to the hospital following a fire on Monday morning off Dupont Road. Fire crews were called around 8:15 to a home at 1618 Lochinvar Drive.
Crews arrived at the house minutes later to find the fire in the attached garage. According to the FWFD, the fire was contained in the garage, and smoke made its way into the house.
The release said one adult and three children evacuated before crews arrived.
The condition of the person taken by medics was not released.
According to a release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, four pets were rescued from the fire as well. Investigators say that the cause of the fire appears to be accidental.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire at 1618 Lochinvar Dr. When the first fire unit arrived smoke was found coming from the attached garage area. Crews went in the side garage door and extinguished the fire quickly. All of the residents that were home at the time self-evacuated prior to the arrival of FWFD. The fire was contained to the garage area and smoke went into the living area of the house. One adult was transported to the hospital to be checked out. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature by investigators on scene. The fire department was assisted by FWPD ,NHC ,AEP, American Red Cross.
