FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWPD officials say that a man was hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart in Southtown Crossing.
Police say that two men have been taken in for questioning but they are still asking for anyone else to come forward with information.
According to police, the shooting happened around 4:05 p.m. Officers arrived to find an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Initially, he was thought to be in critical condition. However, his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening at the hospital.
Police say that witnesses told them about an altercation between the victim and one – possibly two other men before the shooting.
Two men, believed to be those involved, who left the scene were detained by police by police for questioning. No charges have been announced.
Police say that detectives are currently looking for witnesses and hope to obtain video surveillance from nearby businesses.

On November 15, 2022, at 4:05pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Walmart, 7500 Southtown Crossing. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). The male was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening-condition, where he was later upgraded to
non-life-threatening condition.
Initial information indicates an altercation took place between the victim and at least one other adult male (information is still pending on where the argument began). During the altercation, shots were fired, and the victim was struck. Witnesses called 911 and provided call takers with a description of the fleeing suspect vehicle, which was located shortly after by the Allen County Police Department and stopped. Two adult males in that vehicle were detained and are at the police department being interviewed by detectives. The victim is also being interviewed by detectives at the hospital.
Any charges stemming from this incident will be decided up at the conclusion of the interviews. Crime scene personnel were called to the scene to document and collect evidence. Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and hoping to obtain video surveillance from the nearby businesses.
