FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a motorcyclist has life-threatening injuries after taking off from a traffic stop and crashing early Sunday morning.
Officers initially tried to stop the man around the intersection of Cook Road and Woodbine Avenue. Police say he took off but crashed close to Mayfield Road a short time later.
Police did not say why they think the man fled. His identity was not released and officials say he is in critical condition.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a life-threatening crash that occurred at 3:23AM February 19th, 2023 near the intersection of Woodbine Ave and Mayfield Rd. Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle fled from an officer initiated traffic stop, near the intersection of Cook Rd and Woodbine Ave, when the driver crashed soon after.
Officers discovered the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was rendered aid on scene and transported to a local hospital. The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene and closed the roadway, while processing the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team.
