FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A house fire on the north side of Fort Wayne took about ten minutes to be brought under control by firefighters just before 10 p.m. last night.
Crews responded to Hidden River Drive off Auburn Road to find flames coming from a utility room in the basement. Two adults and one child were alerted by smoke detectors and got out safely.
The home suffered moderate smoke damage.

FWFD was dispatched on a residence fire. Battalion Chief 13 found smoke coming from the basement of a 2-story split level on his arrival. Per occupant everyone was alerted by smoke detectors and got out safely. The first units inside the residence encountered large amounts of smoke. The fire was found in a utility room in the basement and quickly extinguished. A quick search of the residence found nothing additional and no fire extension. The fire is under investigation. FWFD was assisted by TRAA, AEP, NIPSCO, FWPD, and Neighborhood code.
