UPDATE (July 13, 2023):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that an arrest has been made in a shooting at the Glenbrook Mall last weekend. Police say that Gregory Normil is now facing several charges after the incident cleared and closed the mall last Saturday.
The FWPD said initially that Normil had left the mall following the shooting close to the H&M store. When officers arrived just before 3:30 p.m., a single adult male was located suffering a non-threatening gunshot wound. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Glenbrook Mall closed for the rest of the day but reopened on Sunday.
The FWPD released the following:
On July 13th, 2023 at approximately 0900 hrs., the FWPD Homicide Unit took into custody Gregory Normil for the shooting investigation at Glenbrook Mall (4201 Coldwater Rd.) on 07/08/2023. Normil was charged with Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5) and Criminal Recklessness (Level 5).

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Glenbrook Mall is back open in Fort Wayne after a weekend shooting.
Fort Wayne Police say an armed party was reported inside the mall Saturday afternoon.
That suspect has been identified but is not yet in custody. One person was injured as a result of the shooting, which happened close to the H&M store close to the front of the mall.
The FWPD released the following:
On Saturday July 8th 2023 at approximately 1522 hours Dispatchers received a 911 call about a possible active shooter at Glenbrook Mall. Initial witness stated they heard 3-4 shots inside the mall near H&M/Grade A Tattoo. Dispatchers then received information that at least one individual was shot during the incident.
When officers arrived, a single adult male was located suffering a non-threatening gunshot wound. Initial officers on scene applied a tourniquet and rendered first aid until Firefighters and TRAA medics arrived and took over care. Officers then cleared the remainder of the Mall for any possible suspects or other victim’s. During this Officers learned that the suspect had fled from the mall directly after the shooting occurred.
At this time It is believed that this incident was isolate between two known individuals, and was not a random act meant to inflict widespread pain of suffering. At the time of the initial broadcast, the suspect in the incident did contact 911 requesting to turn himself in and speak with detectives. As of the time of this press release that individual has yet to come forward and make contact with police.
Glenbrook mall officials have made the decision to remain closed for the remainder of today, Saturday July 8th, and will reopen normal business hours tomorrow, Sunday July 9th.
This incident is still an on ongoing investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department, and Allen County Prosecutors office.
