UPDATE (September 18, 2023): The Allen County Coroner has identified two people killed in a crash last Thursday on US 24.
Monday morning the Allen County Coroner’s Office released the autopsy report for the two who died after the pickup truck they were in was hit by a semi near Bruick Road.
Susannah C. Truax, 27, of Bunker Hill, Indiana and Logan Gibson, 25, of Kendallville both died from multiple blunt force injuries caused by the crash, according to the coroner.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On September 14, 2023, at about 13:45 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash, with fatality, located near the 156 mile maker East US 24, in Allen County, Indiana.
Emergency services were dispatched to the area and 2 persons were pronounced deceased by East Central EMS.
Autopsies have been completed along with identification and notification to the next of kin for Susannah C. Truax, Female, White 27 years of age from Bunker Hill, Indiana, and Logan Gibson, Male, White 25 years of age from Kendallville, Indiana.
Cause and Manner of Death has been determined to be Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash for both individuals.
Susannah Truax is the 30th and Logan Gibson is the 31st fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County, Indiana for 2023.
The investigation continues by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says that two people died in a crash Thursday afternoon on U.S. 24 close to Bruick Road.
Just after 1:30 p.m., first responders arrived to find the wreck involving a semi and two trucks. Police say that they don’t know why but the semi crossed the grassy median and hit the vehicles causing a fire at the scene.
Police say a man and woman in one of the trucks were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was hospitalized in serious condition.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On September 14, 2o23, at approximately 1:33 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of U.S. 24 East, west of Bruick Road, regarding a personal injury crash involving three motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located one semi tractor trailer, one pickup truck and trailer, and one pickup truck involved.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a semi tractor trailer was eastbound on U.S. 24 East. The semi tractor trailer crossed the grass median for unknown reasons and struck a westbound pickup truck and trailer. Those two vehicles came to rest in the ditch, off the roadway, on the westbound side of U.S. 24. A fire ensued as a result of the crash. Both vehicles and the ditch sustained fire damage. The third vehicle, a pickup truck, sustained damaged to an outside mirror from the crash.
The adult female driver of the semi-tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
One adult female and one adult male from the pickup truck and trailer combination were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
The adult male driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
This is an ongoing investigation.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased individuals.
