DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department says that two people were hurt in a crash on I-69 Saturday night when another vehicle swerved to avoid a pedestrian.
Just before 9 p.m., two vehicles were in the left lane on I-69 at the 323-mile marker, about a mile north of County Line Road, when the GMC Sierra in front, swerved to attempt to avoid a pedestrian, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
The second vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, also attempted to avoid the pedestrian but lost control. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department says that it ended up in the median on the east side of the road.
The first vehicle had also lost control then entered the median and hit a cable barrier before hitting the Silverado. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage.
Two teenagers who were passengers in the GMC were taken to the hospital for pain. Their current conditions are unknown.
Police say the crash is still under investigation.
The DeKalb Co. Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Auburn Police Department, Garrett Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, and Parkview EMS.
