FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two suspects are in custody following a shooting close to Weisser Park on Monday. Around 2 p.m., officers were called to Colerick and Smith and found the adult male victim.
Witnesses gave police information and said there were two suspects and that they possibly hid their weapons in the area. FWPD began a search of the area although it isn’t clear if weapons were recovered.
The victim was said to be in stable but critical condition.
Police haven’t identified the suspects or announced charges in the case. They are still asking you to come forward if you have any information.

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a shooting, just after 2pm today in the area of Colerick and Smith St. Officers immediately saturated the area and located an adult male victim in a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was rendered aid and transported to a local hospital by TRAA in critical condition. Preliminary evidence indicated that the shooting occurred in the area of McKee and Weisser Park. Officers were given good suspect information by witnesses, that aided officers in identifying and making two apprehensions after two separate brief foot pursuits of the suspects. Witnesses also told officers that the suspects hid their guns in the area while being pursued by police. A K9 unit, assisted by a drone unit, and officers were searching the area for the weapons. The hospital later advised that the victim’s condition was critical but stable.
