‘Minecraft’ Animated TV Series In The Works At Netflix

Netflix will produce an animated series based on the hit video game Minecraft. The CG-animated show, which was announced to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the game, will offer “an original story with new characters” that’s described as showing the world of Minecraft “in a new light.” The project is being developed with Canadian studio WildBrain, which also produced the Netflix series Carmen Sandiego and Sonic Prime. Minecraft is also being adapted as a feature film, with a release date of April 4th 2025. More than 140 million people a month play Minecraft, which has also created spinoffs including Minecraft Earth, Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends. (THR)
