FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that a man is dead following a house fire on the city’s north side Wednesday.
According to FWFD, crews were dispatched to a house fire on the 1600 Block of East Cook Road just before 6 p.m. A woman made it out of the two-story home before crews arrived and another was rescued by a bystander.
The FWFD says when they arrived on the scene, they found the unconscious man in the driveway. The man was provided medical care by FWFD and TRAA medics but passed away from his injuries at the scene.
Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly. The fire remains under investigation.

FWFD units were dispatched for a possible house on fire. FWFD units arrived on scene at the given address and were directed to an outside basement door, where an unconscious adult male victim of the fire was found on the driveway. Victim was removed from the home by a bystander. Fort Wayne Firefighters and TRAA medics proceeded to render medical care to the victim, but victim passed away from their injuries. Fort Wayne Police Department members responded and assisted on scene. Fire Investigators are currently working the scene as it is still under investigation.
