FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a home on the city’s northwest side during Monday afternoon’s extremely hot temperatures.
A fire was reported at 1225 Orlando Drive just after 4:00 p.m. Smoke and flames were seen coming from the home in multiple areas when firefighters arrived. The homeowners met crews when they arrived and said no one else was in the structure.
The FWFD says that a fire in the attic was spreading, and it was hard to gain control. The temperatures also added to the difficulty of putting out the fire.
Crews stayed on the scene for over an hour and a half, putting out the fire and then looking for hidden hot spots.
The FWFD says that the cause of the fire was accidental.
No injuries were reported.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a working structure fire on Orlando Dr. When the first unit arrived fire and smoke was showing from multiple areas of the residence. Crews were met by the homeowners who stated everyone one was out of the house. Entry was made and a fire attack and search were conducted. The fire was working throughout the attic and multiple crews were working to control the spread of the fire. Temperatures today added to the difficulty of the fire. Crews remained working on the scene for an extended time searching for hidden hot spots. The fire was cleared by investigators and found to be accidental in nature. Assisting at the scene was, NIPSCO, AEP, FWPD, NHC and TRAA.
