TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – An inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail died Saturday afternoon after being found unresponsive in their cell. No foul play is suspected in the inmate’s death according to Indiana State Police (ISP) and the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The deceased inmate’s relatives have been notified and are working on funeral arrangements. No name has been released.

Tippecanoe County – At the request of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
A preliminary investigation by detectives from the Lafayette Post indicate that on September 14, 2024, around 3:00 p.m., jail staff were alerted by an inmate to a potential medical emergency in their cell. Upon arriving, jail staff found an unresponsive inmate, contacted EMS, and began rendering medical aid. Despite their efforts, the inmate was pronounced deceased at the jail by the Tippecanoe County Coroner.
The preliminary investigation does not indicate any signs of foul play. The name of the deceased has been released by the Tippecanoe County Coroners Office. Please refer to their press release for any further information.
