A woman’s shooting death has been ruled a homicide.
The coroner says Arlene Shelton died of gunshot wounds from the incident on Ventura Lane late Tuesday night.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
At about 22:50 hours on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted and advised of a shooting investigation located in the 1400 block of Ventura Lane, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The shooting victim was located at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced a short time after arrival. The Coroner’s Office was contacted and notified of the death of Arlene Shelton, female black 61 years of age, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death.The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Arlene Shelton is the 30th Homicide in Allen County for 2021. This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that a woman is dead after a shooting Tuesday night.
Around 10:50 p.m., FWPD officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 1400 block of Ventura Lane. Police found the woman lying in a driveway suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds.
Paramedics took her to a local hospital where she died.
Police are now asking for tips from the public to help figure out what led up to the shooting and who may be responsible.

On Tuesday, 09/28/2021, at approximately 11:51 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Ventura Ln. reference someone being shot.
Officers arrived and located a female/adult victim lying in the driveway of a residence. The victim was suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by the physician.
Initial information indicates the shooting occurred while the victim was inside a vehicle. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene in an effort to obtain additional details. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death.
