ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) Police say that two juveniles were taken into custody after a police chase that started in DeKalb County and ended in Allen County Friday afternoon.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, an off-duty DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling southbound I-69 at about the 322-mile marker.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2012 Chrysler 300 for a minor traffic violation around 10:00 a.m. Police say the vehicle refused to pull over and fled from the deputy at speeds of excess of 100 mph.
The Chrysler exited I-69 at the Union Chapel Road where it crashed into the roundabout curbs and barriers and came to rest at the Southwest side of the roundabout.
The two occupants ran southwest from the crash site.
A DeKalb County K9 made the scene and performed a track on the suspects South and West from the Crash. Indiana State Police and Allen County Sheriff’s Dept. apprehended the two subjects a short time later in the immediate area of 13000 Block of Auburn Rd Fort Wayne. Allen County Sheriffs Office and Indiana State Police identified the two males as juveniles and both were taken into custody.
The vehicle was reported to be totaled. The DeKalb Co. Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Dept., Jeff’s Towing.
