FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Prosecutors in Fort Wayne say it was a fight about cheating that ended with a shooting on Christmas Eve.
Documents from the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office say Jacob Chacon shot and killed 30-year-old Brittney Deck last Friday after seeing pictures of her cheating with another man.
Police said the two fought before the shooting, the court documents provide a few more answers. Chacon was arrested on Christmas Day, he’s being held without bond on felony murder charges.
Fort Wayne police initially released the following:
On Friday, 12/24/2021, at approximately 9:01 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2300 block of South Lafayette Street reference an unknown problem. The caller reported a female was deceased after an argument. Officers arrived on scene and located the female / adult victim inside the residence suffering from life threatening injuries. Paramedics attempted to provide life saving measures, however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to assist in this death investigation.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death:
On Friday December 24, 2021 at about 2145 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting investigation located in the 2300 block of South Lafayette Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The deceased was pronounced dead on scene by medics.
An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death. The decedent has been identified as Brittany N. Deck, female white 30 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of Head and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Brittany N. Deck is the 47th homicide in Allen County for 2021. This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutors Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
