FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – People in Fort Wayne are going to have to deal with their mounting trash problem for at least six more months.
Fort Wayne’s city attorney said on Tuesday that the city hopes to have a new trash company hired by June.
The city’s current trash collector, Red River Waste, is in the middle of bankruptcy in Texas but has been dealing with complaints from Fort Wayne about missed pick-ups and poor service for months.
City leaders say people’s patience is wearing thin.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The reminders of Fort Wayne’s trash problems are growing by the day in some neighborhoods. Folks say the trash is piling up in front of their homes.
Fort Wayne is in the middle of a back-and-forth with Red River Waste Solutions the current trash contractor.
Red River is going through bankruptcy in Texas and is simply not picking up the trash in Fort Wayne.
City leaders have asked for patience as they work with Red River and come up with a backup plan.
The matter will again be discussed at the Tuesday City Council meeting.
