FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police say a man is in custody following a fatal shooting on the city’s southeast side.
The coroner has also now identified the 24-year-old victim in the shooting on Chartwell Drive Saturday.
Ro Ze Ma, from Fort Wayne, died from a gunshot wound of the chest, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Ma’s manner of death has been ruled a homicide by the coroner’s office.The victim was transported to a local hospital and death was pronounced a short time after arrival in the ER. The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the death.
The decedent has been identified as Ro Ze Ma, Female, Burmese 24 years of age of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Notification has been made to the next of kin. An autopsy has been completed and the Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of the Chest and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Ro Ze Ma is the 3rd Homicide in Allen County for 2022.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Fort Wayne police were called to the 2100 block of Chartwell Drive just after 11 p.m. Saturday, to the report of a shooting, investigators said. Officers found Ma had been shot in the chest. Ma was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
On Sunday, Fort Wayne police arrested 23-year-old Har San in connection with the shooting. San was taken to the Allen County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder and additional drug-related charges.
On Saturday, March 19, 2022 at about 2309 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was contacted and advised of a shooting investigation located in the 2100 block of Chartwell Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46816. The Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne Fire Department and TRAA Medics were dispatched to the scene.

On Saturday, 03/19/2022, at approximately 11:07 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Chartwell Drive reference a shooting. Officers arrived and located the adult/female victim inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her chest. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arriving at the hospital the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Preliminary information indicates the victim was inside her apartment when the suspect(s) opened the rear apartment door and began firing gunshots into the apartment. Officers are canvassing the area speaking to nearby neighbors. Detectives are interviewing witnesses that were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
