FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one person is dead after crashing into a tree on Lake Avenue early Saturday morning.
FWPD officials say that the initial investigation found that around 5:54 a.m., a tan Hyundai was driving south on Randallia Drive when it crossed Lake Avenue and struck a tree on the property of Lakeside Middle School.
The man driving was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the crash. The coroner’s office is expected to release the man’s identity once the family is notified.
No one else was reported to be in the car at the time of the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigation a fatal single vehicle accident that occurred August 27th, 2022 at approximately 5:54 am at 2100 Lake Ave. Preliminary investigation indicates that a tan Hyundai was traveling South on Randallia Dr when the driver (solo occupant) crossed Lake Ave and struck a tree on the property of Lake Side Middle School.
The driver, an adult male, was rendered care at the scene by paramedics and was pronounced deceased a short time later at a local hospital.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Air Support Unit were requested to investigate the crash. The Coroner’s office will release the name of the deceased once notification has been made to the family.
