ANGOLA, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police say that an Indianapolis man was arrested in a traffic stop on I-69 in Steuben County on Saturday night.
Police say he was driving 100 mph when troopers stopped him close to the Angola exit around 10 p.m.
According to ISP officials, the trooper found probable cause to search 2019 Jeep and found a loaded handgun along with “numerous items” that police suspected to be meth, marijuana, edibles, and related paraphernalia.
Police also found that the driver, 45-year-old Anthony Liner, was not allowed to be carrying a handgun in Indiana.
Liner is now facing a list of charges (below).
Indiana State Police released the following:
State Troopers conducted a traffic stop late Saturday night on I-69 in Steuben County, which resulted in the arrest of the Indianapolis driver on multiple charges related to drug and illegal weapons possession.
At approximately 10:00pm Trooper Casey Davis reported having observed a 2019 Jeep passenger vehicle traveling southbound on I-69 at 100mph near the 347mm, which is just south of the Angola exit. Through the course of the resulting traffic stop, Trooper Davis developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. During the search Trooper Davis discovered a loaded handgun along with numerous items of suspected Meth, Marijuana, Marijuana edible products, and related drug paraphernalia.
Further roadside investigation revealed that the driver, Anthony Liner, 45, of Indianapolis, was identified as being an alleged person prohibited from carrying a handgun in the State of Indiana.
Liner was taken into custody by troopers without incident. He was transported to the Steuben County jail and booked into custody on related criminal charges.
