GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Grant County, along with most of Indiana and northwest Ohio, is currently under a Winter Storm Watch expected to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning by Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday, Grant County EMA / DHS released its plans for the coming days and its emergency response steps.
Officials say that the most dangerous period will be from 12 am Friday to 12 pm Sunday. Wind gusts of 45 – 55 MPH will cause blizzard conditions and dangerous wind chills from -10 to -30.

Currently, St. Martins Community Center and Grant County Rescue Mission are planning to operate as warming centers and / or shelters if needed. Both are located in the city of Marion at the addresses below. We will attempt to open other shelters as needed.

Due to the extreme wind conditions predicted from 12am Friday to 12pm Sunday if you lose power it could be an extended period before power is restored.
If you depend on life sustaining equipment in your home, you should make plans now to move to a location with back-up electrical power for the duration of this storm.
Travel most likely will become extremely hazardous Friday thru Saturday. If you do have to travel during this time, plan your rout and let someone know when you expect to arrive and have provisions in your vehicle in case you become stranded. If you do become stranded stay with your vehicle and call 911.
