FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police are investigating after a woman was hit by a car late Thursday night. Around 10 p.m. witnesses reported the woman on the road and bleeding on the 7800 block of Decatur Road.
Medics took her to the hospital where they said she had life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the vehicle that hit the woman stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police do not think that alcohol was not a contributing factor.

On, February 23rd, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 7800 block of Decatur Rd. reference a female down. A witness reported that a female was lying on the ground, bleeding. The victim was unconscious and unresponsive when officers arrived. Paramedics pronounced the adult female victim critical at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The driver that collided with the female stayed on scene and was cooperative. Investigators believe that alcohol was not a contributing factor. Later, hospital staff informed investigating officers that the female’s condition was life-threatening.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
